Dysport® (abobotulinumtoxinA)
A small injection of Dysport (abobotulinumtoxinA), a purified protein derivative, blocks the messages between muscles and the nerves that control them. The result is weakness or relaxation of the injected muscle and improvement of the lines or wrinkles that the muscle action has formed. The effects of Dysport become apparent within 2-5 days after injection, can increase for up to 2 weeks after injection, and generally last for 3 – 5 months. The response to treatment with Dysport, the amount of Dysport needed to achieve desired effect and how long the effect lasts can vary from person to person.
